Financial Aid Process 

FAFSA – Pre Web Application (2008-2009)

Before sitting down at a computer to complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA form, you can review the questions with this Pre-Web application. Make sure to have your 2007 Federal Tax form and W-2(s) handy. This form is valid for Fall 2008, Spring 2009, and Summer 2009.

Independent Verification Form (2008-2009)
You might be selected for review in a process called “Verification” (Required by the Federal Government). If so, an Independent Verification form, along with your 2007 Federal Tax form and W-2(s) will be requested from you.

Institutional Charges (2008-2009)

Review a breakdown of the estimated tuition, fees, and cost of attendance for the 2008-2009 academic semesters.

 

Planning Worksheet and Spending Plan Worksheet

Are you wondering if you can afford next semester's tuition? Using your Financial Aid Award Letter, this Planning Worksheet, and our Spending Plan Worksheet will help you assess your financial situation and estimate your need and budget.  

 

Entrance Interview/Counseling Session

Federal law requires completion of a student loan Entrance Interview/Counseling session for all new borrowers.  If you are a first-time Columbus School of Law borrower, an Entrance Interview/Counseling form must be completed before your funds will disburse.

 

Exit Interview/Counseling Session

Federal law requires completion of a student loan Exit Interview/Counseling session for all “exiting” students. If you are planning to graduate, drop below half-time (6credits), and or departing from CUA-Columbus School of Law, an Exit Interview/Counseling form must be completed.

Summer

Summer Financial Aid Request Form 2009

Summer financial aid is available in the form of loans.  The Summer Financial Aid Request Form is required for all students wishing to utilize their financial aid. Applications for Summer 2009 will be posted sometime in late February 2009. 

 

Summer at CUA 2009

CUA students taking classes at CUA Law should review this handout and submit the Summer Financial Aid Request form to the financial aid office.  

 

Summer in Cracow 2009

CUA students studying abroad to Cracow, Poland, should review this handout and submit the Summer Financial Aid Request form to the financial aid office.

 

Summer Abroad 2009

CUA students studying abroad (other than Cracow, Poland) through another university should review this handout and submit the Summer Financial Aid Request form, a Consortium Agreement Request form, and a Power of Attorney to the financial aid office.


 

O'Brien Summer Fellowship 2009

In memory of his grandparents Charles and Louise O’Brien, Father Raymond O’Brien created this summer fellowship to encourage students to interrelate their religious perspective with the practice of law. CUA students completing their first, second, or third year of law school AND will be enrolled at CUA for the Fall 2009 semester are eligible to apply for summer grants in conjunction with their work at a pro bono assignment during the summer. At present, each student chosen has received a grant of $6,000. Applications will be available in late February and due to the Office of Financial Aid, in Room 314 by 5:00pm Thursday, March 26, 2009.

 

SPIL Stipend/Eric D. Weissman Memorial Scholarship 2009

The Students for Public Interest Law (SPIL) and the Eric D. Weissman Memorial Scholarship is offering a summer stipends to CUA law students to encourage and support the placement and training of legal careers in public interest law. Applications will be available in late February and due to the Office of Financial Aid, in Room 314 by 5:00pm Thursday, March 26, 2009.

 

Patton Boggs Public Policy Fellowship 2008

In honor of founding partner James R. Patton, Jr., Patton Boggs, LLP established the Patton Boggs Foundation to annually grant a Public Policy Fellowship to an exceptional CUA law student. A $5,000 fellowship is available to a student spending their summer working on public policy matters for a non-profit institution or a government agency. Submit a completed application along with a copy of a résumé to Hilary A. Bednarz, Pro Bono Coordinator, in Room 163 by 5:00pm Thursday, April 10th, 2008.

 

CUA Prosecutorial Stipend 2008

All rising 2nd Year CUA Law student who will be working in an unpaid position with a prosecutor’s office are eligible to apply for this $3,500 summer stipend. Submit a completed application to the Office of Financial Aid, in Room 314 by 5:00pm Thursday, April 10th, 2008.

Misc.

Title IV Authorization Form

Financial aid is disbursed into your CUA Account and is applied towards tuition charges. To apply your Federal Aid towards non-institutional charges, such as CUA Health Insurance, Library Fees, etc., this authorization form is needed.

Consortium Agreement Request Form

Planning to visit another school for a semester or two? Simultaneous to requesting approval to visit away from Dean Niedzielko of the Academic Affairs Office, you should complete and submit this form to the Financial Aid Office. Financial Aid from CUA may be available to finance your semester away.
