Announcement About University Computer Passwords
Summary
=======
In order to improve the security of our systems we will be implementing additional password controls for network logon access and several applications.
Password complexity will be enabled for Cardinal Station passwords on Tuesday, Aug 7, and for CUA network logon accounts on Thursday, Aug. 16. With this feature enabled, passwords must contain a mix of characters as described below. Additionally, passwords must be at least eight characters long.
Cardinal Station
----------------
Starting Tuesday, Aug. 7, password length and complexity will be enforced in Cardinal Station. Cardinal Station passwords, when changed, will need to be at least eight characters long, and must contain at least one number and one punctuation symbol. The "Change Password" panel will be modified to list these requirements.
Please note that these changes will not affect users until the next time that they change their Cardinal Station password.
Network Logon Accounts

Starting next week, on Thursday, Aug. 16, password complexity will be enforced for network logon passwords. Network logon passwords, when changed, will need to include three of these four types of characters: 1) upper case letters, 2) lower case letters, 3) numbers, 4) punctuation symbols (such as: $ - _ . ! ).
